When You Know Something Google Doesn't...

Benedict Cumberbatch's Bacon Number is 1, since starring with Kevin Bacon in the movie "Black Mass".

As of the writing of this brief post, Google is as yet unaware of this fact. So, officially, I know something Google doesn't know, yet! I guess that gives me bragging rights? :)

Let's see how long it takes for Google to catch up :)

Terrific

It's such a beautiful word because it allows for multiple meanings at the same time and both meanings apply equally.

This summer, I've been endeavouring to pursue a different direction in my career. On the one hand, I have a terrific opportunity to learn and to grow, to build more confidence, self-esteem, drive, motivation, perseverance and other brilliant qualities that will contribute to a successful future. On the other hand, this career path is equally terrific as it petrifies me and efficaciously paralyzes me like that lamentable deer in the headlights.

I try to convince myself of all the great benefits that I have to gain from successfully weathering the adversity I'll most certainly face on this particular career path. Lucre is definitely not excluded from this particular list. But even with all of those great benefits shining in my mind, I still find myself standing on the highway, watching my doom approach as the fear

I Told You So...

These four words typically are associated with the negative connotation of "you didn't listen, and now you get to suffer the consequences; you should have listened to me!"

That's not what I mean this time around.

Passions

I recently had a conversation with a good friend of mine who helped me to open my eyes to how much I had lost perspective in my life. As a result of regaining some of that perspective, I've come to realize that one of the biggest reasons I'm where I'm at in life is because I haven't been following any particular passion or purpose.

A Self-Addressed Memo, Packed With Awesome!

God loves you.

Take control of your life. Be a leader. Don't be afraid to take the initiative, and stop apologizing for every little thing you do. Be a leader. Take control. You are destined to do great things! Take a few reasonable risks. Those things that you are fearful of are really not that big of a deal! Take initiative. Don't always wait for others to take control. God has foreordained you to be a leader - act the part, and He will bless you with the ability! There is a lesson to be learned in the adage, "It's better to beg forgiveness than to ask permission." Use these words wisely and realize that it is only in taking initiative and stepping out of your comfort zone that you will find the most satisfaction and growth in life.

Ping!

I'm still here. Yup! I'm alive. Well, that's what a physician would tell you, anyway.

In the interests of maintaining my sanity and not spreading my "love" of "company" (read: misery), I'll leave it at that.

Until next time... keep fit and have fun (or something like that).

It's About Time

Having found myself to be unemployed for the past six months - longer than any other personal "streak", including winning The Game (*drat!*) - I've come to learn a lesson or few.

Today, after pondering my current standing in life and reflecting upon what I've accomplished and how my time has been spent, I learned a big lesson: How busy we are is inversely proportional to how well we prioritize. Think about it for a minute: How busy would you be if you ONLY had to do the absolutely necessary things - eat, sleep - on your agenda? Doesn't that sound boring?
